Our Mission

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), founded in 1890, and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, securing America's future through better education for children, and preserving American history.

Mary Penrose Wayne, NSDAR, members are from diverse backgrounds, brought together by our passion for honoring our ancestry, pride in our country, and serving our community. A large and active chapter, we are steadily increasing our membership. If you live in the Fort Wayne area and believe that one of your ancestors may have served in the Revolutionary War, we encourage you to learn more about our chapter and the exciting things we are doing. We would love for you to join us!

Our Areas of Focus

Education

Our committees promote literacy, celebrate student patriotism through essay contests, support the DAR schools, and provide scholarships.

Historic Preservation

We support preserving local historic buildings and monuments, celebrating commemorative events, and preserving genealogical documents.

Patriotism

Our members demonstrate patriotism by recognizing community leaders, supporting our active military, and celebrating and serving our veterans, from the American Revolution to the present.
